      "My First Sweater Class"

taught by Brenda from A Lil' Bit Sheepish

    Tuesdays, May 14th, May 21st, June 4th & June 11th

    1:30 - 3:30 pm

Learn to knit your first sweater in this class.  If you are comfortable with the knit and purl stitches, you are ready to knit this top-down summer tee.  Before class begins, you will need to purchase or pull from your stash a fingering weight yarn.  The pattern calls for 4 sets of needles.  In order to ascertain the correct gauge, which will be determined in the first class, use 32" size 5 needles to knit a swatch ahead of the first class in a stockinette stitch.  It should be at least 4 x 4 inches.  Bring your swatch to the first class to determine the correct needle size to yield the correct size sweater.  You will learn to read a pattern, knit in the round, increase 2 ways, decrease, divide for sleeves and pick up stitches to creat a neckband.

Cost ~ $110 (includes instruction and pattern only)

You will need to supply your needles and yarn.  Class attendees will receive 15% off any class supplies purchased in Salty Yarns.

    Jackie DuPlessis ~ It's Fine-ally Finished

    1.  Anglo Indian work-box $430 (deposit of $260) ~

Thursday, April 18th full day, 1/2 day April 19th

Inspired by stunning Indian work-boxes created in the district of Vizagpatam, India where the Indian craftsmen used wood and ivory/bone to create charming cottage styled work-boxes.   These work-boxes are rare and only a few have survived.    With the isolation of covid, I seized the day and created one for myself.  I am so pleased to be able to share this stunning little cottage with removable roof.  The roof actually is functional since the sides can be flapped up to reveal needle-pages and the pincushion chimney and pink keep cap is also removable.  The entire house is stitched using a variety of Noir silk fibers on 35ct linen.  The interior is furnished with a stuffed pincushion and two removable lids that allow storage of waxers and spool holders.  Ultra Suede linens the interior cavities and the pull out draw stows your favorite scissors.  Each side of the house work-box features images close to my heart.  The front panel with it's charming garden gate, windswept trees and  key hole center, the back with it seagulls, inhabited cliff and seal-boats with compass rose.  The sides feature a bottle-brush tree and a Acacia tree.
